The Richard E. Lee Engineering & Technology Block, popularly referred to as “The Hangar Building,” is a state-of-the-art facility designed to accommodate instructional and research laboratories for the College of Engineering, College of Computer Studies, and College of Science at DLSU-Laguna.
The building consists of two main components: the Research Building and the Hangar Shed. Drawing inspiration from the school’s innovative “Sikat” solar car and the structure of an airport hangar, the design of the shed exhibits a unique architectural form. Certain laboratories and learning centers within the Research Building will provide views of the Hangar Shed, creating a visually engaging environment.
To prioritize energy efficiency, the design incorporates natural skylights to maximize the use of natural daylight, reducing the need for artificial lighting. Additionally, large and aerodynamic ceiling fans are employed to enhance air circulation and promote a comfortable atmosphere within the facility. These measures aim to optimize energy consumption and create a sustainable learning environment.
